WARNING!: Chinese Made Copies of Tomei Fuel Pressure Regulators
This is the first and long awaited announcement of the fake copies of Tomei Powered products that are being sold around the world these days. Read for more important information
Recently the market is being flooded with more and more copied items of many brands, including ours. You may have heard rumors that Tomei products are made in China. Well there are a lot of copied Tomei products made in China. This is true. It is hard and near impossible for us to stop these companies making knockoffs due to the international legalities and also being China….
So here are is the detailed information on the copied Tomei Fuel Pressure Regulator that is being sold on eBay and other so called authorized Tomei dealers.
These fake regulators are poor in quality as they have leak. This is dangerous as you know. Problems caused are engine failure and/or fire! Don’t risk your car, investment and life with these fake items. The problem is these look very close to the real ones so here is how you can tell the fake one from the real one.
THE REGULATOR BODY

The Logo is different
The color is different, a bit darker.
The finish quality of the surface is different, not as smooth.

You can see the screw at the bottom that seals the side pressure sensor hole is not properly sealed with the tape
The Tomei on the left has the white tape showing, where as the fake one on the right doesn’t.

The Tomei Regulator has its own unique serial number on the back
The fake one on the right doesn’t
The mounting bracket is noticeably different too (screw holes, color and more).

This photo shows what the fake copied items package comes with.
The only one of each fitting and nipple (sometimes non are included or color is off)
The fittings don’t come with the sealing tape either.
The paper that was used to print the manual on is different
Stickers are not included, sometimes they are but of such poor quality.
No Cardboard base
The plastic bag that the Regulator is packed in has the logo printed poorly or on an angle etc.
Our original does not have a Tomei logo on it.
THE PACKAGE

The printing on the fake one is darker in color and not clear
There are some hint of yellow in some parts of the box where is should be white
The blue bar at the bottom is different, fake one is higher and darker

The printing alignment of the text on the fake one is off
The fake one on the right has a yellowish tinge in the white areas

Again the printing alignment on the fake one on the right is off
There is no LOT Number stamped on the fake left one. (Tomei always has one on there for our QA reasons)

The company name in Japanese is missing “Powered” at the bottom in the fake one on the left.

The text on the blue bar at the bottom is not in the center of that bar.

The original TOMEI box is white on the inside
The fake one on the right has a brown cardbox look to it (there has been some fake ones with white on the inside as well).

If you knew that is was a fake that you bought, then please be careful when using that it won’t fail on you. Fake products like these can cause you a lot of problems and can cause terminal engine failure.
Please do not risk damaging your engine and a fire risk with a fake copied fuel pressure regulator.
We cannot support you with the fake ones and naturally there is no warranty with the fake ones.
Each and every Tomei Fuel Pressure Regulator is meticulously inspected one by one in person here in Japan after they are made.
There are shops selling these fake copies online and from shops in China, Taiwan, Malaysia and from other Asian countries in that area. Also we have heard of the fake ones being sold in the UK and the USA. Ones sold on ebay are sometimes packaged with hoses and guages which was never sold by Tomei. We will be releasing Fuel Pressure Guages in the near future. Those will have our logos on them.
