The 2012 Hachiroku (86) Matsuri was held last Sunday the 16th at Tsukuba Circuit (Home of Time Attack).

We took our USDM FRS there for the event, to showcase a new product. Yes it was strange to see a LHD Japanese car in Japan.

This is the tunnel that allows track cars to access the pit paddock area. This tunnel goes under turn 1.

Here’s how our booth looked.

IMG_5870

We had our FRS at the front with the all new Expreme Ti Titanium Cat Back prototype on display.

IMG_5796

There were many awesome dedicated track cars ready to race in the N2 class. Many who are also using Tomei products.

IMG_5803

Like this N2 racer which has our Cam Gears, Camshafts and more.

IMG_5821

There was even a group of BMW cars there too. They had their own race class and track time.

IMG_5822

There were a few awesome looking BMWs.

IMG_5825

The Panda look is still the most popular look.

IMG_5827

Here’s an AE86 that doesn’t look like an AE86.

IMG_5831

This full hard-core build looks more suited for time attack. The engine has been moved way past the usual firewall location. The firewall has been customised with the drivers seat relocated further back too.

IMG_5833

The suspension geometry has been completely customised as well. A super wide stance with slick rubber tires wrapping those Rays Wheels.

IMG_5834

A full pipe frame rear with the Super GT style suspension setup too.

IMG_5866

A number of 86 / BRZ demo cars were also on display.

IMG_5867

Ours was attracting a number of enthusiasts.

IMG_5872

The old and the new. The original AE86 still has great physical presence. Especially the noise that these track screamers produce, it’s impossible NOT to notice them.

IMG_5884

Other manufacturers were there too.

IMG_5896

Lots of interesting setups and looks.

IMG_5911

Our customer, CBY (Crystal Body Yokohama) won their class and took first place.

IMG_5946

This car looks awesome.

IMG_5981

Fast and well balanced.

IMG_5997

Taro from Techno Pro Spirits came 2nd.

IMG_6009

Families were there with their kids too. Regardless of age, everyone still enjoys the AE86.

IMG_6018

Will we see this at next years World Time Attack Challenge?

Not everyone was there for grip, some like to slide.

IMG_6314

So there was a drift class session as well.

The long day also gave us a long detour back due to the traffic congestion in Tokyo.
