Event Epilogue: Wicked Big Meet 2010 by DSG

We got some nice feedback from Dent Sport Garage of the Wicked Big Meet 2010 event. Here are words from DSG.

Unfortunately DSG had their camera stolen so there was no photos available from DSG of the event as yet. So here are some I had found online from the NASIOC forums.

And now for the words from Alex @ DSG —
“We had a great weekend last week traveling to Wachusett Mountain for the annual Subaru “wicked big meet” Thousands of people were in attendance driving Subaru’s of all models. Subaru of New England was present with the newest Legacy as well as Vermont Sportscar with their Red Bull sponsored Rally car.

DSG was happy to once again have Tomo H. with them to represent Tomei and demonstrate our relationship with Tomei and our insistence on being associated only with companies like Tomei who have a strong engineering background and racing experience.

For the day at the mountain we brought three cars to show our skills. One was a Group N Impreza rally car that we’ve been preparing and campaigning for this season, another was Bill’s 240RS Maxi which features a Tomei cylinder head using only Tomei parts. This includes adjustable camshaft pulleys, solid pivot lifters and 280 degree Procams. The third car we brought with us was a BMW M3 with a 2.5 Liter S14 motor. Even it had a Tomei fuel rate adjuster!

Tomo brought literature on the ARMS turbocharger, Poncams, EXPREME Exhaust system for Subaru as well as the specification of the Cusco-Tomei Time Attack car, which was a very popular subject over the weekend. The whole team had a great time and we were able to introduce many new people to both DSG and Tomei.

Lately Dent Sport Garage has been tuning many Subaru and even a couple of Mitsubishi Evolutions with Tomei ARMS turbochargers. They fit perfectly and produce far more power than achievable with a standard factory turbo. They also include all new factory gaskets and piping for oil and water. One such Subaru is used only at the track for time trial and at Redline Time Attack.

DSG has built this GD body wagon from the beginning, adding a roll cage, then a built motor with forged pistons. Finally we chose Tomei ARMS 7760 Turbo, tuning the car with the original ECU using ECU Flash on our Dyno Dynamics Dyno. We then completed a 6 speed swap with R180 rear differential and a cockpit adjustable center differential. The car is also using Cusco’s new Zero-3 suspension. The Tomei Turbocharger produces almost 400bhp on race gas. It produced enough torque to break two aftermarket 5 speed gearboxes before we swapped to a 6 speed!

This is a video of the car chasing Ferraris at Mt Tremblant Circuit in Canada.

Finally our shop Evolution II hillclimb car was retuned with Tomei’s adjustable cam pulleys and the car gained 150 ft-lbs of torque at 3300 RPM. Peak torque remained at 420ft lbs however huge gains were made at low RPM with help of the cam gears and proper tuning.

The DSG/ Visual Assault Modified Class Time Attack car will be back at the racetrack soon. The Tomei 2.2 liter is being refreshed and we hope to have the car back on the race track within a few weeks.
