HARD ANODIZED & LIGHT WEIGHT CONCAVE DESIGN
The prototype designs were tested and used on the D1GP race engine that Ueo Katsuhiro was using in D1GP. Video is at the bottom of this post!
SUPER LIGHTWEIGHT DURALUMIN
Duralumin was used for both the outer gear and the inner pulley section; we were able to significantly drop the weight whilst increasing durability.
Both the pulley and the inner plate have been milled to perfection. This ensures it’s functionality for timing accuracy and maximum durability.
The hard anodizing surface treatment of the pulley increases the products surface durability substantially. This also decreases the wear rate on the gears teeth contact areas.
SIMPLE SCALES FOR ADJUSTMENTS
A simple scale was designed to help aid tuners anywhere are able to setup the settings on the scale to aid with easy setup process.
PERFORMANCE USE & SHOWROOM FINISH
The Duralumin material with the hard anodized surface treatment gives it better operational reliability and will enhance the look of your engine bay for that showroom finish.
You can change the engines characteristics by making adjustments to the intake side with the adjustable cam pulley. When advancing the valve timing on the intake side, (i.e.:120 ° → 110 °) the low end power band will increase. When retarding the valve timing on the intake side, (i.e.: 110 ° → 120 °) the high end power band will increase.
The fixed position of the nock pin has been pre-set for the ideal valve timing by us. So during installation, you’ll still need to verify the valve timing. This can be done with the use of a degree wheel and a dial gauge.
CHANGING PONCAMS VALVE TIMING
Does the PONCAM require valve timing adjustments? The PONCAM has been designed from the results of various tests, so we had pre-set the valve timing centerline to 110 degrees. This is the best base initial timing for both drivability and performance. It is easy and safe to fine tune to suit your needs from this start point. In this case, the dial gauge is not required. The PONCAMS have gained popularity because of this and often, the PONCAMS are the best choice for most users out there for its functionality.
