Event Report: Show Up 2012 in Odaiba

Last Sunday was the bling and sound show of Show Up, in Odaiba, Tokyo.

Kenji Yamanaka had both his cars on display. The S14 was displayed on his special truck. His truck is actually his own company’s truck. Personally, I love that truck, I want one myself.

This show is not the usual sports and performance only type of car show. The main focus of the show, is looks and sound. So the modified scooters were out on display too.

What do you think about these stretched Scooters?

Insane or madness? I love it when they put FAT wheels on the back. The fatter the better. For that extra visual impact.

The extent of detail and money that has been poured into these creations have to be respected.

Neo Tokyo style Scooters

How’s this interesting trike? Talk about getting your kid started early.

The boxy look, reminds me of Gundam.

Speaking of Gundam, the 1:1 scale Gundam was within walking distance from the show too.

If Princess Leia wanted to turn to the dark side, Papa Vader might be proud of this look. Just needs red wheels.

This looks more like US or Australian style bling.

The Snake & Rose Camaro.

SEMA show inspired for sure.

The new revised clean Bozozoku look Soarer. I love the boxy looking bodies.

In Japan, these Kei classed cars and mini vans are popular. Why are the 8 seater vans called “mini vans” in the US is beyond me. THIS is a “Mini Van”!

Kei vehicles in Japan are powered by a 660 cc 3 cylinder engine (or smaller).

The family car, Aristo. With the 2JZ power plant.

Mazora is the Japanese paint company that produces these wild paint colour options.

Both the JZX100 Mark 2 and S14 that Kenji has, have been resprayed with the Mazora paint colours. The white paint on the Mark 2 actually has a pearl glitter finish to it. But you cannot see it in this photo.

Hopefully these cars will be at more drift events next year.
