Here is Drag race report we had on last Sunday in Sendai Hi-land, here in northern Japan. For those of you who aren’t that familiar with Japan. Sendai is just north of Fukushima.

This track was badly damaged from the big level 9 earthquake back in March 2011. It was closed for just over 2 years after that Higashi-Nihon earthquake. So this event was staged to celebrate it’s reopening.

There were many serious drag racing cars that turned up for the event. GT-Rs, Fairlady Z, Toyota Supras and many more.

The Sendai Drag course is located at the top of the mountain, out in the countryside with nice views.

We had some products on display, EXPREME Ti, ARMS Turbocharger and Stroker kits for Nissan.

Generally, a larger turbocharger relative to stock, results in decreased response of the engine. However, we have managed to keep the response equal to that of the stock trim by matching the most ideal turbine and compressor wheel. Countless hours of testing was of course performed to achieve these results.

Increased Peak Power
To achieve an increased peak power with the various restrictions such as the turbo size limit is considered a great achievement. We are also proud of the perfectly instant response where there is no lag and no abrupt boost pressures.

Maintains Boost Pressure at High RPMs
It is evident that the stock turbocharger cannot maintain or extend boost pressure above 6,000 RPMs. The M7960 has the capacity to far extend this limit, making it an ideal step for further advanced tuning.

Our 3D Profile Design is the Premium Grade Piston.

The ellipse barrel shape profile was chosen from the advanced analysis of the analysis distribution of piston temperatures, material properties and the coefficient thermal expansion rates. This allowed our design to use much tighter piston clearances for maximum power range. This greatly reduces blow by gases, friction loss and no noise. This maximizes power and longevity of the piston. This is the advantage of Tomei’s Pistons.

Higher Compression, The Perfect Seal, Prevent Problems With This Easy Upgrade.

The technological advancement of performance engines and even more so from tuned engines will increase the burden of stress on the head gasket. Under extreme conditions of high cylinder pressures and competition use, the head gasket is often the weakest point. The expansion and 3D pressure image shown, displays the effectiveness of the TOMEI multiple layered head gasket with the super grommet design (shown with the pressure image analysis system). The sealing performance is pursued with cross-section measurements and utilizing various functions within the design.

SUPER GROMMET DESIGN

Although the stock product is not metal, yet the sealing performance is limited due to the grommet type design. The sealing performance has been improved considerably with the super grommet, to suit these engines and has been proven to deliver excellent reliability. (Super Grommet = Dual Seal Method combining both the Bead Structure & Metal Grommet designs).

SPECIFIC RIB DESIGNS

The gas sealing characteristics will improve with the raised rib, but the sealing characteristics of the neighbouring water and oil channels are equally reduced. Therefore when pushing for power gains, these areas are weak points that can allow leakages. The TOMEI design focuses on all areas to provide the maximum seal with the use of the super grommet design. By using the rib height to ensure an equal overall high surface pressure seal, where it’s needed the most.

Earlier this month, the world famous Ken Block visited South Korea. During that event, they had the Professional Korean drifters holding a competition event.

Sung Kim is the driver in these photos, he finished 2nd overall. He missed out on taking the win due to some damages sustained during earlier runs that day. Sung has been using our Tomei Technical Trax 2 Way LSD for a while now and he loves it!

Updates from Formula D, Round 1 at Long Beach.

Yoshioka debut his new race car at this event. His all new GT NET / TOMEI Subaru BRZ!

This car will be used to compete at both the Formula D events and at Pikes Peak Hill Climb.

It also has our custom prototype EXPREME Ti Titanium Muffler.

The body kit is the new C-West kit.

It is powered with our all new EJ26 GENESIS long block crate engine as well!

Yoshioka was still trying to fine tune the engine and trying to dial in the cars setup during the event, since he had no time to test the car prior the event. This was his first time to drive the car too!
